What Are Xtreme Lashes® Eyelash Extensions?
Xtreme Lashes® Eyelash Extensions are semi-permanent eyelash extensions comprised of individual synthetic eyelashes that are curved to replicate a natural eyelash. Our lashes are thicker at the base and taper to a fine point. They are applied on to individual eyelashes, one extension at a time, for a natural, elegant look to lengthen and add fullness to the existing lashes. Xtreme Lashes® Eyelash Extensions are for professional application only. Self-application and application by untrained individuals is strongly discouraged.
What are Xtreme Lashes® Eyelash Extensions made out of?
Xtreme Lashes® Eyelash Extensions are crafted from synthetic polyester. Synthetic lashes respond better to wear and tear than other materials. In addition, synthetics have the least possible chance of allergic reactions with human skin. Testing has shown that there are higher percentages of people who will have adverse reactions to contact with lash extensions created from animal hairs, such as mink.
What do they look like and how do they feel?
With proper application, Xtreme Lashes® Eyelash Extensions look and feel completely real. Each application is customized to suit the individual. We offer three thicknesses of lashes and four different curls with lengths ranging from 5mm to 17mm in a variety of colors for highlighting effects. Varying individual synthetic lash lengths are chosen to carefully replicate the shape and frame of a natural lash line. The thickness of the Xtreme Lashes® Eyelash Extensions applied is determined by the health and thickness of your natural lashes as well as personal preference. The overall effect is added curl, thickness and length, opening up the eye for added definition.
Xtreme Lashes® Eyelash Extensions are designed to be indistinguishable in size and weight to human lashes. They are flexible yet crimp-resistant, and they move with your natural lashes. As long as you keep up with the touch-up applications, it is almost impossible to tell that you are wearing the extensions.
Because an Xtreme Lash® is an exact replica of an eyelash, it weighs about as much as a natural lash: practically nothing. You will not notice the addition of the extensions to your lashes and they will not cause your natural lashes to fall out ahead of their natural cycle as other enhancement methods can. Please feel free to review our client testimonials and before/after pictures for additional information on the look and feel of Xtreme Lashes® Eyelash Extensions.
What are the benefits of wearing Xtreme Lashes® Eyelash Extensions?
Most women choose Xtreme Lashes® Eyelash Extensions to lengthen their natural lashes while others want their lashes to look fuller. A number of women with naturally light colored lashes choose Xtreme Lashes® Eyelash Extensions to darken their existing lashes. Still others love the different, fun looks they can achieve with highlighting and layering.
Xtreme Lashes® Eyelash Extensions can create a younger appearance on many clients. Several consumers who were contemplating having work done on their faces have informed us that they no longer feel the need as a result of wearing Xtreme Lashes® Eyelash Extensions. Xtreme Lashes® Eyelash Extensions create the appearance of a brighter, more open and rested eye, thereby creating a more youthful and rejuvenated look.
Above all, the main advantage of Xtreme Lashes® Eyelash Extensions is how much time you can save during your beauty regimen. Xtreme Lashes® Eyelash Extensions allow you to spend less time with makeup; mascara is certainly no longer necessary. Because our lashes are bigger at the base, they create the same effect as eyeliner so that step can be avoided as well. Overall, Xtreme Lashes® Eyelash Extensions will give you the appearance of having put significant effort into your eye makeup when, in reality, you spent no time at all. No application of eye makeup and no need for removal at the end of the day. The added benefit is that they look beautiful morning and night, all day, every day. Say goodbye to the application of mascara, stained tears and mascara raccoon masks around the eyes. With Xtreme Lashes® Eyelash Extensions you can look and feel gorgeous from the moment you wake up until the moment you fall asleep with little to no effort.
How long do Xtreme Lashes® Eyelash Extensions Last?
The look can be maintained indefinitely with refills. When properly applied, an Xtreme Lashes® Eyelash Extension will remain in place until the natural lash on which it rests falls out. This can be as long as two months or more.
Natural eyelashes grow in and fall out in cycles (every 60 to 90 days). When a natural lash matures and falls out, a new lash has already been growing and quickly replaces it without us noticing the turnover. This process is constant and at any given moment our many natural lashes are at different stages of maturity. Some are just growing in, while others are ready to shed. People typically shed between 1 and 5 natural lashes each day, depending on their individual growth cycles. On shorter natural lashes, this growing and shedding cycle is virtually unnoticeable.
When eyelashes are extended with Xtreme Lashes® Eyelash Extensions, it will be more noticeable when these lashes shed because they are longer and darker than natural lashes. Please keep in mind this is a perfectly normal occurrence, with or without extensions. Lash Stylists will apply Xtreme Lashes® Eyelash Extensions primarily to those lashes that are in the middle of their maturation cycle to maximum the amount of time they will last, without jeopardizing the health of ‘baby' lashes. The Xtreme Lash® will fall out with the natural lash it is attached to when it reaches the end of its growth cycle. A few Xtreme Lashes® Eyelash Extensions may shed within the first week because the attached natural lashes are at the end of their growth cycle. Most will remain in place for approximately two months.
With proper care and maintenance, touch-ups are typically only needed once every 2 to 4 weeks to replace the lashes that have shed. Your Xtreme Lashes® Eyelash Extensions Stylist will add extensions to the newest mature natural lashes to maintain a full, lush appearance.
How long does the procedure take?
Depending on the expertise and experience of the Lash Stylist and the number of lashes being applied, it generally takes between 120 to 150 minutes to apply a full set of Xtreme Lashes® Eyelash Extensions. Touch-ups can be done in as little as 45 to 60 minutes.
Can you describe the application process?
You will be comfortably reclined with your eyes closed while Xtreme Lashes® Eyelash Extensions are applied one at a time to your own natural eyelashes. There is no discomfort or pain involved in the procedure. In fact, most clients find it is so relaxing and comfortable that they fall asleep.
I have no lashes at all, can I wear Xtreme Lashes® Eyelash Extensions?
Because Xtreme Lashes® Eyelash Extensions are applied to existing natural lashes you must have some natural lashes to receive the procedure. Xtreme Lashes® Eyelash Extensions should not, and in many cases cannot, be applied to clients who have alopecia, are undergoing chemotherapy or those who suffer from Trichotillomania, unless and until the individual has received effective treatment and normal lash growth has resumed.
Can I apply Xtreme Lashes® Eyelash Extensions to my own eyelashes?
No. Only a trained professional will be able to safely apply Xtreme Lashes® Eyelash Extensions. Unprofessional application or self-application may cause eye injury, lash damage or unnatural looking lashes. Xtreme Lashes® Eyelash Extensions are applied one lash at a time to your individual natural eyelashes to achieve long, thick and natural looking eyelashes. The procedure involves bonding the synthetic extension to your own natural eyelashes and should be performed only by professionally trained Lash Stylists only.
One note of caution:We hear countless stories of individuals who go to an untrained lash technician because the cost is low. They receive a substandard set of lashes that is clumpy, painful and often damaging to their lashes. A proper application of lashes is not painful during or after the procedure. Eyelash extension application is an exacting process that takes skill and time. If the cost is very cheap, you should certainly question the training of the technician as well as the quality of the product. These same individuals often end up seeking out an Xtreme Lashes® Eyelash Extensions Stylist after they try the cheap alternatives. Ultimately, most have realized from experience that the old adage “you get what you pay for” is often true.
Frequently Asked Questions
1. Are you certified?
Yes, I am a Certified Permanent Makeup Artist.
2. What is 3D Eyebrow Microblading?
It is a semi-permanent makeup method; the technique is natural feathering of hair-like strokes directly on the skin’s surface that creates natural-looking eyebrows. 3D Eyebrow Microblading creates the background and fills in the areas of the eyebrows that looked empty so that a full and complete look is accomplished. The “3D” effect added realism to the end result. Unlike a traditional eyebrow tattoo, 3D Eyebrow Microblading does not leave a flat, dull and fake look that tattoos leave behind and is a MUCH SAFER treatment. The 3D Eyebrow Microblading method can fill in sparse brows or create an entire brow, which makes it the perfect procedure for Men and Women.
3. What is a Gradient Eyebrow Tattoo?
Instead of creating hair strokes eyebrow like Microblading, this technique is natural shading a gradient effect from the beginning of the brow to the end starting from light and fading to dark, give your brow the sharp yet natural look.
4. Does it hurt?
We get mix reviews on pain. Everyone has a different level of sensitivity so topical anesthetics are applied before and during the treatment to alleviate any sensation or discomfort. Some clients naturally feel one brow sorer than the other. You will hear a scratch noise/ sensation throughout.
Music is usually played during the procedure, however feel free to bring your own ear phones and music to distract you.
5. Is it safe?
Absolutely. Sterilized, disposable needles and supplies are used during the process.
6. Will I be swollen?
You won't be swollen, you just might have slightly red skin around eyebrows, but this would last no more than 1 hour.
7. Will I need a touch up?
Most likely. Within a week of your first treatment the color will fade significantly and over the next four to six weeks can continue to fade as much as 50%. This is considered an extremely positive occurrence as it allows you time to reflect on your shape and color. After this period your follow-up appointment is carried out. At this point any changes you would like to make are discussed.
8. How often do I need a touch up?
In order to keep your eyebrow tattoo results looking fresh, we recommend a touch up every year.
9. How long does it last?
It will last as long as it’s maintained. Untouched, the ink will last up to 4 years.
10. Why do I need a touch up if this is semi-permanent?
Because color is implanted in the facial area there tends to be more fluid circulation than other parts of the body. Your face sees the most wear of any piece of you—exposure to the sun, food, facial products—the list goes on and on. All of these things cause permanent color to fade, this is why you need a touch up.
11. How long does it take?
The procedure takes roughly about two hours, sometimes more sometimes less. Please allow a solid 3-hour window for your appointment. I likely won’t need that much time, but this isn’t something I want to rush.
12. Do I need to take a day off work?
No. There’s no downtime associated with the treatment. Redness and swelling will dissipate within an hour after. Your brows will appear darker initially, but not so dark that you will be prevented from your activities of daily living.
13. How long does it take to heal?
Healing time varies from individual to individual. Usually, it takes about a week to ten days for the epithelial crust to form and slough off. Your skin will be considered healed after that happens. Then, the pigment takes some time to settle into the skin. A good month should pass before I consider the process complete.
14. What’s the process like?
Eyebrow tattoo is a two-step treatment, consisting of an initial procedure and then a touch up between 4 to 6 weeks after.
After taking your before photo, I will draw the brow design in pencil so you get an idea of shape and form. (Please note that nobody’s face is totally symmetrical and you need to be realistic with your expectations. There is no point in trying to make the eyebrows identical or match a photo of your favorite celebrities' eyebrows if your face shape looks nothing like theirs.). Once we have agreed on a final shape (ultimately it is your decision – but I will always voice my opinion on what I think suits you aesthetically), I will shape your eyebrows then we will decide on the color. Shortly after that, a topical anesthetic will be administered to ensure comfort. Once you’re numb, the pigment is deposited.
During healing, it's normal to experience some pigment loss; this is why we have the touch up in place.
15. What can’t I do after the procedure?
You are advised to keep the skin clean and dry - that means no swimming, sweating or otherwise getting the area wet; no tanning or prolonged sun exposure; no picking, peeling, scratching or rubbing the tattoo, this may result in a loss of color and scarring. You can still wash your hair and face and once they’re healed up, you treat them as your own.
16. How do I extend the life of the procedure?
Your beautiful eyebrows will last longer if you apply sun block often and avoid abrasive facial treatments in the brow area.
17. How many color do you have?
Of the 9 main colors I use, I can blend several to achieve even more shades to suit the client. ALL clients who have had the procedure done will be conscious they have brows that are very obvious, however please bear in mind, the skin has been broken to allow the pigment settle, and healing has yet to take place. This is why I ask you to bring your eyebrow pencil (if you use one) with you at appointment - so I can match the pigment to the desired HEALED RESULT, which emerges after thecrusts naturally fall off and the skin gently exfoliates naturally itself to reveal the new brow. Clients who are used to having no brows for a long time, can find this few weeks challenging. I usually advise clients who have no brows to start wearing pencil or brow shading for some time before the process so they get used to having a brow!
18. I already have permanent makeup and want to change the shape. Can you help?
Yes, changes to your old design can be made.
19. Do you have to shave off my own eyebrows?
No. Every attempt is made to retain all natural hair and integrate it into the design of the permanent eyebrows. In some cases, where shaping of the natural brow is required, a few hairs here and there may need to be removed to create a clean and aesthetically pleasing result.
20. I have heard some clients just do not retain pigment even after a few visits. Could this happen?
Yes, it does happen and yes it's true!
A third appointment is often set up so the client has the opportunity to return and I get the chance to review the work and sort out any (if any) tweaks that might need to be done. Often times the clients cancel this apt as all is usually well, however there are the occasional few that may need one or two extra strokes to finish off the look. Some ladies skin may react to the trauma of the tattooing, and the skin may try to push out the foreign body of pigment by producing an extreme scab, so they eventually fall off taking all the pigment with it. There is a condition called Pigment Allergy (PPD Allergy, a condition known by dermatologists) or Auto Immune disease symptoms (the client may not even be aware of it). The skin would have over reacted and become super sensitive to the pigment and reject it at any cost.
21. Can you guarantee your work?
Unfortunately, I can't. How the skin will react is different for everyone and many factors are to be taken into consideration. Skin type, age, scarring, diet, stress levels, facial products used, etc. all play a key role in how the pigment will hold, which is why it is important to know that more than one touch up may be required.
I can guarantee that your face is important to me and that I will act in accordance with my experience and expertise to give you my absolute best. I can guarantee that I will strive to make you gratified and content every time. But there are no guarantees in this industry. Please think long and hard before you decide to go for it.
22. What if I don’t like it?
Although Microblading or Gradient Eyebrow Tattoo is considered to be semi-permanent, the procedure does allow flexibility for color or shape change to some extent. However, I will work closely with you to ensure that you are satisfied with the proposed technique. I will allow you to have as much control over the procedure as possible, so there’s very little room for error. If you do not like the decision you made, the Touch Up can be cancelled and the pigmented area naturally fades away over time. If you aren’t 100% sure you would benefit from this procedure, please opt for a more temporary option.
